PAC is a coagulant that removes turbidity and colour from drinking water and clarifies industrial effluent. It is dosed ahead of the clarifier, where it gathers fine suspended particles into flocs that settle. Paper mills and textile dyeing units use it on their effluent.

It depends on the water. PAC is pre-neutralised, so it pulls the pH down less than alum and works over a wider pH band, 5.0 to 9.0, which helps where the raw water is short of alkalinity. Ferric alum costs less per kg and needs lime only where the raw water cannot supply the alkalinity itself. Compare the two in a jar test on your own water and work out the cost per cubic metre treated, lime included. We make ferric alum and supply PAC, so we can quote both.

Our PAC powder has 28–32% Al₂O₃ and 70–85% basicity, and our liquid PAC has 10% Al₂O₃. Al₂O₃ is the active aluminium, reported as oxide, and basicity is the share of that aluminium already bound to hydroxide. Higher basicity usually means a smaller pH drop and less alkali correction after dosing.

Yes. The liquid PAC we supply has 10% Al₂O₃ and comes in 35–50 kg carboys, 200–250 kg drums or by tanker. It doses straight from the tank, so there is no powder to dissolve. The powder, at 28–32% Al₂O₃, carries about three times as much aluminium per kg, so it costs less to move over long distances.
